Privacy Policy
Your privacy, protected with care.
At Lagundo ASL Services, privacy is part of how we approach communication access. This Privacy Policy explains what information LAS may collect, why we use it, when it may be shared, how we protect it, and the choices that may be available to you. If you have a question about how your information is handled, reach out. We are glad to explain.
Accessibility is art.
1. Information we may collect
We aim to collect information that is relevant to providing, coordinating, and supporting the services you request. Depending on how you interact with LAS, that may include:
- Name, email address, phone number, and other contact information.
- Event or assignment details, including dates, locations, schedules, run-of-show information, communication needs, and access requests.
- Information submitted through our website, request forms, email, phone, or other communications.
- Interpreter and contractor information, including resumes, credentials, availability, tax or payment information, and onboarding records.
- Billing, invoicing, and transaction-related information.
- Medical, legal, educational, workplace, or other sensitive context when it is relevant to coordinating communication access.
- Documents or materials provided for interpreter preparation or assignment coordination.
- Technical information generated when you use our website, such as browser, device, cookie, and basic usage information where applicable.
2. Where information comes from
We may receive information directly from you, from the organization or person requesting services, from interpreters and contractors working with LAS, or from service providers used to operate our website and business. For some assignments, a venue, healthcare provider, employer, school, event producer, family member, or other requesting organization may provide information necessary to coordinate access. This matters because the Deaf or hard of hearing person is not always the one submitting the request.
3. How we use information
LAS may use personal information to:
- Respond to inquiries and service requests.
- Coordinate interpreting, captioning, accessibility, and related services.
- Staff and manage interpreter assignments.
- Prepare interpreters with information relevant to an assignment.
- Communicate with partners, guests, interpreters, and contractors as appropriate.
- Manage proposals, agreements, invoicing, payments, accounting, and business records.
- Maintain interpreter credentials, onboarding records, and availability.
- Operate, secure, maintain, and improve our website and internal systems.
- Meet legal, regulatory, contractual, insurance, and professional obligations.
- Protect LAS, our team, our partners, and the people we serve from fraud, misuse, security incidents, or other harmful activity.
LAS does not sell personal information for money. We do not provide personal information to third parties for their independent marketing.
4. When we share information
We may share information only when it is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was provided or otherwise permitted by law. Depending on the situation, that may include:
- Interpreters or Deaf interpreters assigned to the engagement.
- Contractors and members of the LAS team who need the information to perform their work.
- Technology and business service providers that support hosting, email, scheduling, communications, document storage, payment processing, accounting, or other operations.
- Professional advisers such as attorneys, accountants, insurers, or auditors when needed.
- Government agencies, courts, law enforcement, or other parties when disclosure is required or permitted by law.
We do not share more information with an assigned interpreter or service provider than is reasonably needed for that person or provider to perform the requested work.
5. Sensitive and health-related information
Some assignments involve medical, legal, educational, employment, or other sensitive information. LAS treats sensitive information with heightened care and limits access to people and service providers who reasonably need it for the assignment or another lawful business purpose.
When LAS handles protected health information in a relationship subject to HIPAA, we follow the requirements that apply to LAS under the relevant agreement and law. If a healthcare organization requires a Business Associate Agreement or other privacy or security terms, those requirements should be raised before the engagement is confirmed so they can be reviewed and addressed. LAS does not treat every healthcare-related interaction as automatically subject to HIPAA. The legal requirements depend on the parties, the information involved, and the nature of the relationship.
Nevada law may provide additional protections for certain consumer health data. Where those requirements apply to LAS, we will handle that information and privacy requests in accordance with applicable law.
6. Interpreter and contractor information
LAS maintains professional information about interpreters and contractors, which may include resumes, credentials, registrations, certifications, availability, onboarding materials, payment records, and other business information. We use that information for staffing, credential verification, onboarding, payment, administration, compliance, and other legitimate agency operations. Certain professional information may also be shared with a partner when reasonably necessary to confirm qualifications, meet credentialing requirements, or support an engagement.
7. Cookies, analytics, and website technology
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for site operation, security, forms, preferences, and secure sign-in where applicable. LAS does not currently use third-party analytics or behavioral advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this Policy and provide any legally required choices.
Some pages include embedded third-party content, such as Vimeo video and Instagram posts, which load only when you choose to play or open them and may then receive technical information as part of providing that content. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy terms.
8. Data retention
LAS retains information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for legitimate business, accounting, tax, insurance, contractual, security, and legal obligations. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and the engagement. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we take appropriate steps to delete, destroy, or de-identify it in accordance with our practices and applicable requirements.
9. Data security
LAS uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Access is limited based on business need, and we rely on security controls provided by the systems and service providers we use. No electronic storage, transmission, or security system can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident, we will respond in accordance with applicable law and our obligations.
10. Your privacy choices and requests
You may contact LAS if you have questions about information we hold about you or would like to request access, correction, or deletion. Some information may need to be retained for legal, contractual, accounting, security, or other legitimate reasons. Where applicable privacy law gives you additional rights, LAS will respond to eligible requests as required by that law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on certain requests. To make a privacy request, email info@lagundoaslservices.com or call (702) 469-4204.
11. Third-party links and services
Our website may link to or embed websites, platforms, or services operated by third parties. LAS does not control the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy information when you interact with them.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, technology, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. If we make a material change to how we handle personal information, we will provide notice in a manner appropriate to the change and applicable law.
